First, let’s review the types of technology that are available for creating a display wall. Some of the more popular technologies are rear-projection cubes, LCD panels and LED tiles. Display walls may also be created by using either rear-screen projection without a cube or front-screen projection. To evaluate which technology category will best support your display requirements we will review the following considerations: design flexibility, physical footprint, ease of installation, image quality, ambient light tolerance, reliability, ease of maintenance and cost.
Blended Projection Walls Technology
This projection system is group of projectors. The output of these projectors is mixed together to form a final output. It provides the high-resolution screen. There are two types of blended projections. First one is placing the projector behind the screen while in the second one the projectors are placed in front of screen. It is used in researchers and for education purpose.
Blended projection involves the use of multiple digital video projectors to produce a single, final projected image. In a typical blended projection application, the images from two or more projectors are overlapped so that part of one image covers the other. Special techniques involving a combination of hardware and software are then applied to blend the images in the overlapping areas so that they produce a single, seamless image.
Why is Blended Projection used?
Applications for blended projection usually fall into one of two categories. First, where a non-standard screen format is desired, blended projection is an ideal approach. Screens can be as wide or tall as desired by simply adding additional images end-to-end. Atypical screen formats such as these are often found in museums, churches and specialty attractions that apply video as an artistic element in architectural design.
The other primary use is to produce very large images with unusually high resolution. By adding the brightness and resolution of the individual projectors extraordinarily large images can be achieved for giant screen cinema and other specialty applications.
Blended projection can often provide a great solution for projection in spaces with limited ceiling height. By pushing elements out horizontally, more content can appear on a screen without increasing the screen’s reach upward. Also, blended projection has application on curved screens and dome theaters where the unique geometry of the screen makes standard projection difficult.
Rear Projection Walls Technology
It is known as cube projection system. Because in this projection system the projection and mirror both are in cube. It protects the screen to be affected from external light sources. The projector first gives light to the mirror, after reflecting from the mirror the image is formed on display.
Rear projection screens are ideal for presentations where the projector is mounted behind throwing toward the viewer. Many options are available from small to large rear projection screen formats. This includes portable rear projection screen models, pull down rear projection screens, retractable projection screen, and the diy rear projection screen options. Rear projector screen models have features such as professional black masking borders to improve picture contrast and absorbs projection light overshoot.
Advantages of Rear Projection
Front projection is now undoubtedly the more popular option, but that’s not to say that rear projection doesn’t have its advantages. In fact, when it comes to commercial use, rear projection may actually be the wiser option.

Another benefit of using rear projection is the flexibility it offers with lighting, usually in a front projection setup the lighting around the screen needs to be heavily controlled, whereas with a rear solution you can still operate in more ambient lighting environments without the image quality being compromised.
In many cases when using rear projection, it’s usually easier to hide or conceal the projector itself when compared to using front projection. This is an especially useful feature across a wide range of sectors with artists opting to use our rear projection films as a less invasive alternative, allowing them to create uninterrupted environments which are all together more intimate and immersive for visitors.
